Job Summary:
• Perform scrubbing duties for operative procedures in collaboration with the Nurse Circulator
• Assist in preparing the operating room, maintaining aseptic technique, and managing surgical instruments and supplies
• Report to the Nurse Manager of Surgery or CV/Spine Care and work under the direct supervision of the assigned RN during operative procedures

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform pre-operative hand scrubs, gowning, and gloving according to aseptic principles
• Set up rooms accurately for surgical procedures, identifying needed instruments and supplies
• Arrange back tables in accordance with standardized hospital procedures
• Respond quickly to direction from RN and/or physician during procedures
• Maintain and update surgeon procedure preference cards as needed
• Restock supplies in the assigned operating room as directed by the RN
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment prior to procedures
• Assist in draping the patient while maintaining a sterile field
• Handle equipment, instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, and dressings to ensure surgical asepsis and patient safety
• Assist with preparation and transport of surgical specimens
• Test and verify functionality of surgical equipment before and after each case
• Monitor equipment and supply inventory; notify Surgery Buyer of needs
• Remain attentive to the procedure, anticipating the surgeon’s needs
• Suggest and implement improvements in procedures and systems with approval
• Assist with operating room turnover, including cleaning, setup, sterilization, and patient transport

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist training program
• OR proven experiential knowledge such as military surgical technician background

Certifications:
