Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Financial Reporting to lead external financial reporting, audit, and tax compliance efforts while overseeing internal reporting processes. This role serves as the authoritative accounting expert for the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all reporting activities. The Associate Director will collaborate with accounting, treasury, and development teams, manage external audit and tax advisors, and maintain accounting policies. This position reports directly to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of financial reporting, external audit, and tax services.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
- Oversee completion of annual external audit plans and tax return calendars.
- Coordinate preparation and submission of all company tax filings, including IRS Form 990, state filings, and other required submissions.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and efficiency of external and internal filings.
- Maintain effective control procedures over financial reporting and tax processes.
- Lead monthly close reporting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with management across operating areas to strengthen internal controls and risk management.
- Participate in financial, operational, compliance, and technology audits as needed.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology for improved reporting and compliance.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required throughout the year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree optional).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, audit, or tax
- Experience with accounting software, inter-fund accounting, and nonprofit accounting preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to think strategically while maintaining attention to detail.
