Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for selecting, preparing, and packaging medications and supplies for shipment to patients. This role includes record-keeping, inventory control, and accurate data entry using computer applications. The technician must demonstrate knowledge of drug names, basic pharmacology, and medical terminology, while collaborating with team members to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. The position also requires the ability to perform Operations Assistant responsibilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Select, pick, package, and label medications and ancillary supplies per prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Accurately count medications using manual processes and automated counting devices.
- Follow proper hand sanitization and hazardous medication handling practices.
- Perform Operations Assistant functions as required.
- Prepare and/or restock filling stations with medications and supplies.
- Clean pill counting devices, equipment, and general work areas to maintain safety and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Six months of work experience as a pharmacy technician.
- Active and unencumbered Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Florida.
- Verifiable High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to stand for 8–10 hours per shift.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 5–10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 30–50 lbs.
- Ability to work near moving machinery (e.g., conveyor belts) in a moderate-noise environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three months of experience in a pick/pack/ship environment.
- Three months of computer-based work experience.
- Prior experience in pharmacy operations or healthcare distribution.
Certifications (if any)
- Active Pharmacy Technician license in Florida (required).
- Basic medication handling and safety training (preferred).
