Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing medications to ensure safe and effective patient care. This role provides guidance to patients and healthcare providers on proper medication use, monitors for drug interactions, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and pharmacy best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and storage requirements
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring medication supplies
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards within the pharmacy
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or equivalent
- Active pharmacist license in good standing
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic uses
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy settings
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Experience in patient counseling and medication therapy management
Certifications (if any)
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certification preferred, depending on specialty area
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required in certain settings
