  • Job Summary  
    The Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical or diagnostic procedures. This role is responsible for monitoring patients’ vital signs, managing pain and post-operative symptoms, and ensuring safe recovery until patients are stable for transfer or discharge. The PACU RN collaborates with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide direct nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia.
    2. Monitor vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness.
    3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including pain management.
    4. Assess patients for post-operative complications and intervene promptly.
    5. Educate patients and families on post-anesthesia recovery and discharge instructions.
    6. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
    7. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
    8. Respond to emergencies and provide advanced life support as required.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    2. Current Registered Nurse license in the state where care is provided.
    3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    4. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    5. Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience (within the last 3 years).
    6. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Prior experience in PACU, critical care, or perioperative nursing.
    3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
    4. Strong background in high-acuity patient care.
