Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care provides specialized nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role requires advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly in high-acuity situations. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to critically ill patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in the ICU.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in Meditech.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
- Uphold infection control, patient safety, and quality standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and unit-based initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Active State RN license.
- ACLS and BLS certification (AHA or ARC).
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
- Proficiency with Meditech electronic health record system.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in other critical care specialties (e.g., cardiac ICU, surgical ICU).
- BSN degree preferred.
Certifications (if any)
- ACLS certification required.
- BLS certification required.
