  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is responsible for providing specialized, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while closely monitoring patient conditions, administering advanced treatments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

    The ideal candidate possesses strong critical care experience, advanced clinical judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Critical Care Nursing
    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.
    • Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously evaluate patient status.
    • Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans based on patient needs and clinical findings.
    • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
    • Manage multiple high-acuity patients while maintaining quality and safety standards.
    • Advanced Monitoring & Clinical Interventions
    • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic data, vital signs, and other critical patient indicators.
    • Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment including:
    • Cardiac monitors
    • Ventilators
    • Infusion pumps
    • Hemodynamic monitoring systems
    • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and vasoactive drips as prescribed.
    • Assist with emergency procedures and resuscitation efforts.
    • Patient Care & Treatment
    • Provide care for patients with conditions including:
    • Respiratory Failure
    • Sepsis
    • Multi-System Organ Failure
    • Cardiac Conditions
    • Neurological Disorders
    • Trauma and Surgical Recovery
    • Perform complex nursing procedures within scope of practice.
    • Monitor patient responses to treatments and interventions.
    • Care Coordination & Collaboration
    • Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning discussions.
    • Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges from the ICU.
    • Communicate patient status and treatment plans effectively to healthcare team members and families.
    • Patient & Family Education
    • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and recovery expectations.
    • Provide emotional support and guidance during critical illness and recovery.
    • Facilitate family involvement in care when appropriate.
    • Communicate complex clinical information in an understandable manner.
    • Documentation & Compliance
    • Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient outcomes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and critical care nursing practices.
    • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.

    Required Qualifications
    • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
    • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    • Previous acute care nursing experience.
    • Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
    • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Previous Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care, CVICU, SICU, MICU, Trauma ICU, Emergency Room, or Step-Down experience.
    • Experience caring for ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients.
    • Knowledge of advanced cardiac monitoring and critical care protocols.
    • Experience with multidisciplinary critical care teams.

    Certifications (If Any)
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License – Required
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification – Required
    • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certification – Preferred
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification – Preferred
    • PALS Certification – Preferred (depending on patient population)
