JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse – Hematology/Oncology provides specialized care to patients undergoing treatment for blood disorders and cancer. This role involves administering chemotherapy, managing symptoms, and supporting patients and families through complex treatment plans. The RN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments safely and accurately
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and manage side effects
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and symptom management
- Coordinate care with oncologists, hematologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards
- Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and families
- Ensure safe handling and disposal of hazardous medications
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the State of Washington
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum 2 years of experience in oncology or hematology nursing
- Proficient in chemotherapy administration and oncology protocols
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient education skills
- Epic EMR proficiency required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential
- Experience in bone marrow transplant or infusion therapy
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (preferred)
