Job Summary
The Emergency Room Technologist provides critical support in the emergency department by assisting physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with patient care and technical procedures. This role ensures efficient operation of the ER through timely preparation, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment and supplies, while delivering compassionate care to patients in urgent situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist medical staff with patient care procedures and emergency interventions.
- Prepare, operate, and maintain medical equipment used in the emergency department.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens as required.
- Perform diagnostic tests and document results accurately.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report changes promptly to medical staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in compliance with hospital standards.
- Ensure availability of emergency supplies and restock as needed.
- Support patient transport and positioning during procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide efficient patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited Emergency Room Technician or Medical Assistant program.
- Basic knowledge of emergency medical procedures and terminology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience working in an emergency department or acute care setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Advanced training in phlebotomy or diagnostic testing.
Certifications (if any)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
- State-specific licensure or certification as required.
