  • Job Summary
    The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for processing prescriptions, managing medication orders, and supporting patient care units by facilitating the delivery of medications in hospital and clinic settings. This role requires effective communication with patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies to ensure timely and accurate medication management, including prior authorizations and discharge medication coordination.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Process prescriptions through the pharmacy system, including adjudication of claims to third-party insurance plans
    • Assist with timely and accurate filling of medication orders
    • Collect medication histories as part of the medication reconciliation process
    • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to support patient care
    • Facilitate medication delivery to patients and families in hospital and clinic settings
    • Coordinate payments and communicate issues with pharmacists and the Prior Authorization Team
    • Participate in service line meetings as required
    • Manage inventory and process co-pay cards from drug company programs for eligible patients
    • Complete prior authorizations according to assigned unit volume
    • Communicate effectively with providers, insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and other stakeholders involved in discharge medication management
    • Perform all standard pharmacy technician duties including production, prescription processing, and delivery

    Required Qualifications
    1. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) certification required
    2. Minimum of 2 years pharmacy technician experience
    3. Strong communication skills for patient and provider interactions
    4. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Retail pharmacy experience
    2. Experience as a lead pharmacy technician, in specialty pharmacy, or prior authorization roles
    3. Prior experience in discharge medication management or hospital pharmacy settings
    4. Demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills

    Certifications
    1. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) - Required
