1. Assess, monitor, and document patients' mental, emotional, and physical health status.
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
4. Perform comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health assessments.
5. Monitor patients for changes in condition, including suicide risk, self-harm behaviors, aggression, or psychiatric emergencies.
6. Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients.
7. Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
8. Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, coping strategies, and discharge planning.
9. Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
10. Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
11. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary team meetings.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
2. Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
3. Minimum of 1–2 years of Registered Nurse experience; psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience preferred based on facility requirements.
4. Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, behavioral health treatment modalities, and psychopharmacology.
5. Experience performing patient assessments, care planning, and medication administration.
6. Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and crisis management skills.
7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and therapeutic relationship-building skills.
8. Ability to work effectively with patients experiencing acute or chronic mental health conditions.
9. Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
10. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

1. Previous inpatient or outpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
3. Experience in crisis stabilization, substance abuse treatment, or behavioral health settings.
4. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
5. Familiarity with suicide risk assessment and behavioral intervention protocols.

1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) License – Required.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required.
3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification – Preferred or required based on facility needs.
4. CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification or equivalent – Preferred.
5. Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (RN-BC) – Preferred.
