Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – PACU provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. Working under general supervision, the RN monitors patients’ physiological status, ensures safe recovery, and delivers high-quality post-operative care while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients in the PACU.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments.
- Monitor patients’ physiological status and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and blood products as prescribed.
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Deliver competent and compassionate patient care.
- Communicate care plans with patients and families, including discharge instructions.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program.
Certifications (if any)
- BLS – required.
- ACLS – required.
- PALS – required.
