Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit on a per diem basis. The RN will provide high-quality patient care, monitor telemetry patients, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective outcomes. Candidates must have at least 2 years of recent experience (within the last 3 years), be willing to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week, and have Epic EMR experience. Block booking will be available up to 3 weeks in advance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor 3–6 telemetry patients, including continuous ECG rhythm interpretation
- Assess vital signs, pain levels, neurological status, and respiratory patterns at regular intervals
- Recognize and report dysrhythmias, rhythm changes, and other cardiac alerts promptly
- Perform comprehensive medical-surgical assessments and document findings in the EMR system
- Administer medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous) and monitor for side effects
- Manage IV lines, peripheral lines, central lines, and infusion pumps
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and fall-prevention interventions
- Provide wound care, dressing changes, and monitor surgical sites
- Track fluid balance, intake/output, and perform bladder scans as ordered
- Deliver post-operative care, including frequent assessments and monitoring for complications
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Minimum of 2 years of recent (within the last 3 years) medical-surgical/telemetry experience
- Epic EMR experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of telemetry monitoring and med-surg nursing practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Prior experience in per diem or flexible scheduling roles
- Advanced knowledge of post-operative care and cardiac monitoring
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
