  • Job Summary
    The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents requiring intensive monitoring and advanced medical interventions. The RN collaborates with pediatric intensivists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, family-centered care and promote optimal patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients.
    • Monitor patient vital signs, neurological status, respiratory function, and hemodynamic parameters.
    • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, blood products, and critical care treatments as prescribed.
    • Operate and manage advanced life-support equipment, including ventilators and invasive monitoring devices.
    • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
    • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
    • Provide emotional support and education to patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations.
    • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement evidence-based nursing interventions.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Adhere to patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance standards.
    Required Qualifications
    1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    2. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    3. Minimum of one (1) year of PICU, Pediatric Critical Care, NICU, ICU, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
    4. Strong knowledge of pediatric critical care practices and advanced patient monitoring techniques.
    5. Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
    6. Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity pediatric environment.
    7. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Previous experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Children's Hospital setting.
    3. Experience caring for mechanically ventilated and critically ill pediatric patients.
    4. Knowledge of evidence-based pediatric critical care protocols.
    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
    2. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
    3. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN-Pediatric) Certification, preferred.
