Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) provides compassionate, family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of acute and chronic health conditions. The RN works collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, evidence-based care and to support optimal patient outcomes in a pediatric setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
- Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and adjust care as necessary in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Perform and assist with diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) according to hospital policy.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and allied health staff to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards to promote a safe environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted with relevant experience.
- Minimum 1 year of recent pediatric or acute care nursing experience.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatric Step-Down, or Pediatric Emergency Department.
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) or other relevant specialty certification.
- Pediatric experience in a hospital or specialty clinic setting.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hire.
- RN license (state-specific).
