  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Endoscopy is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. This role performs patient assessments, prepares patients for procedures, assists physicians during endoscopy procedures, monitors patients throughout the procedure and recovery, provides patient education, and ensures compliance with clinical, safety, and regulatory standards.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Assess patients before endoscopic procedures and document medical history, medications, allergies, and vital signs.
    • Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
    • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by maintaining a sterile environment and providing procedural support.
    • Administer medications, intravenous (IV) therapy, and moderate sedation as authorized and in accordance with organizational policies.
    • Continuously monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedures.
    • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition or emergencies.
    • Provide post-procedure care, recovery monitoring, and discharge instructions to patients and families.
    • Educate patients regarding procedure preparation, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and preparation of endoscopy equipment in accordance with infection prevention standards.
    • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in on-call rotation as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
    • Experience providing nursing care in an endoscopy, procedural, surgical, outpatient, or acute care setting.
    • Knowledge of endoscopic procedures, moderate sedation, and patient monitoring.
    • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience in an Endoscopy, Gastroenterology (GI), Perioperative, or Ambulatory Surgery setting.
    • Experience assisting with upper GI, lower GI, bronchoscopy, or other endoscopic procedures.
    • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
    • Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGRN).

    • Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) preferred
