Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will provide specialized care to patients during all stages of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. This position requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to provide family-centered care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart tracings.
- Assist with labor induction, pain management, and delivery support for both vaginal and cesarean births.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the care team to ensure safe, effective patient outcomes.
- Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers within the unit.
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures such as C-sections and assist during delivery as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes using Cerner and Fetal Ink systems.
- Provide patient and family education on postpartum care and newborn safety.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and evidence-based standards of care.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state/district of practice.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Cerner EHR experience – required.
- Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility.
- Excellent clinical skills in labor management and fetal monitoring.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience assisting with high-risk pregnancies or Level III/IV L&D units.
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required
- AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring – Required
