  • Job Summary
    The Mother-Baby/Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during the postpartum period. The RN promotes maternal recovery, supports newborn care, provides patient and family education, and collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality, family-centered care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for postpartum mothers and newborn infants.
    2. Monitor maternal and neonatal health status, including vital signs, recovery progress, and newborn adaptation.
    3. Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions as prescribed.
    4. Assist with breastfeeding education, lactation support, and newborn feeding techniques.
    5. Educate families regarding postpartum recovery, infant care, safe sleep practices, and discharge planning.
    6. Identify and respond promptly to maternal or neonatal complications and changes in clinical condition.
    7. Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
    8. Perform newborn assessments and support routine infant screenings and procedures.
    9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    10. Adhere to patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance standards.
    Required Qualifications
    1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    2. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    3. Minimum of one (1) year of Mother-Baby, Postpartum, Labor and Delivery, Nursery, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
    4. Strong knowledge of maternal-newborn nursing practices and postpartum care.
    5. Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
    6. Ability to provide compassionate, family-centered care in a fast-paced environment.
    7. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Previous experience in a Mother-Baby, Postpartum, Women's Health, or Maternal-Child Health unit.
    • Experience providing breastfeeding support and newborn education.
    • Knowledge of evidence-based maternal and neonatal care practices.
    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
    2. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
    3. Inpatient Obstetric Nursing Certification (RNC-OB), preferred.
