Job Summary
The Surgical Technician (Travel) plays a vital role in supporting surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, ensuring sterile environments, and assisting surgeons during complex procedures. This position requires expertise across multiple specialties and the ability to function as a lead technician in high-acuity cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures across specialties including Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, Burn, and Vascular Surgery.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to anticipate needs and provide seamless support.
- Serve as lead technician when required, demonstrating advanced competency in specialty areas.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT).
- Two years of prior experience in a facility of similar size and scope.
- Demonstrated competency in Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, Burn, and Vascular Surgery.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Associate Degree or completion of a vocational school program in surgical technology.
- Experience in diverse healthcare settings with exposure to advanced surgical techniques.
Certifications (if any)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
