Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach to deliver high-quality imaging services that support accurate diagnosis and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of ultrasound procedures including abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, and small parts imaging.
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for imaging procedures.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Evaluate images for quality, clarity, and diagnostic value before submission to physicians or radiologists.
- Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and results in the system.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Assist in training new staff or students as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
- Completion of an accredited ultrasound/sonography program.
- Proven experience performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures in a clinical setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience in specialized modalities such as vascular, cardiac, or musculoskeletal sonography.
- Prior experience in a hospital or multi-specialty clinic setting.
Certifications (if any)
- Current ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification or eligibility required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Additional specialty certifications (e.g., RVT, RDCS) preferred.
