    JOB SUMMARY
    Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, preparing patient skin for surgery, and maintaining aseptic techniques. Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients. Transports patients to and from the Operating Room suite, positions patients according to the type of surgery, and identifies and cares for biological specimens. Prepares the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to case requirements.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Under the direction of a professional nurse, performs processes related to direct patient care and assistance in the OR prior to and during any surgical procedure.
    - Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments, and sutures to the physician, and assists as directed.
    - Uses the physician preference card as a starting point when pulling cases and setting up the OR.
    - Ensures that preference cards are kept up to date.
    - Works effectively as a member of the patient care team.
    - Cooperates in team planning and execution.
    - Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
    - Demonstrates clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
    - Adheres to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and self-safety.
    - Monitors and controls the surgical environment, maintaining proper traffic control, dress codes, and adherence to OR sanitation policies.
    - Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
    - Performs assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients.
    - Adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs of each patient.
    - Performs other duties as assigned.

    Schedule / Shift
    Mids: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

    Required Qualifications
    - High School Diploma or equivalent.
    - Completion of a Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program.

    Certifications
    - BLS (AHA only).
    - Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN License.

    Experience
    - 2 or more years of experience preferred.

    Skills
    - Ability to proficiently scrub in multiple specialty areas, including but not limited to Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, and Robotics, is highly preferred.
