Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Sterile Process Technician to join our healthcare team. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, cleaned, assembled, sterilized, and distributed according to ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role is critical to maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical and clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all ANSI/AAMI standards, IFUs, SOPs, and company Work Instructions to ensure quality and compliance.
- Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and established protocols.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments as required.
- Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets following established guidelines.
- Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect all instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to packaging.
- Document and report missing or damaged instruments per SOPs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels.
- Handle all instruments and customer-owned items carefully to prevent damage.
- Perform daily computer-based tasks and complete all related documentation.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of instruments and supplies.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization and processing equipment.
- Keep workstations and decontamination areas clean, organized, and compliant with infection control standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members, operations personnel, and distribution staff.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggest workflow or process improvements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certifications and competencies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality protocols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, sterile environment and follow written instructions precisely.
- Proficiency with computer-based recordkeeping and inventory systems.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
