Job Description:

  • Job Summary:
    Under general supervision, the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will provide respiratory therapy services across various departments to patients of all age levels. The role involves administering treatments, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring efficient care delivery in a timely manner.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff
    • Record treatment information and patient’s treatment response in computerized medical records
    • Act as a resource person to medical staff
    • Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients
    • Provide age-appropriate care to patients
    • Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained
    • Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records
    • Participate in the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:
    • Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program
    • Licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
    • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (required upon hire)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required within 3 months of hire)
    • The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential must be obtained within 12 months of hire
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two (2) years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting (preferred)

    Certifications:
    • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure)
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (National Board of Respiratory Care)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
    Skills and Experience:
    • Knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, techniques, and equipment operation
    • Clinical decision-making skills related to pulmonary and cardiac care
    • Ability to interpret patient information to assess needs
    • Ability to work under stress
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and staff
    • Some computer skills
