  • Job Summary
    The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN collaborates with physicians, midwives, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care for both mother and newborn.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients.
    2. Monitor maternal and fetal well-being through continuous assessment and fetal heart rate monitoring.
    3. Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, inductions, and emergency obstetric procedures.
    4. Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and prescribed treatments.
    5. Provide labor support, pain management, and emotional support throughout the childbirth experience.
    6. Monitor patients for complications and respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
    7. Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
    8. Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal care teams to coordinate care.
    9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    10. Adhere to patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements.
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    • Minimum of one (1) year of Labor and Delivery, Women's Health, Maternal-Child Health, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of obstetric nursing practices, fetal monitoring, and maternal-newborn care.
    • Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
    • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
    • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Previous experience in Labor and Delivery or High-Risk Obstetrics.
    3. Experience with cesarean sections and obstetric emergencies.
    4. Knowledge of evidence-based maternal and neonatal care practices.
    Certifications
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
