  • Job Summary  
    The Registered Nurse – Mental Health provides direct and indirect patient care to individuals experiencing mental health and behavioral disorders. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. The RN collaborates with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments.
    2. Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
    3. Administer and monitor psychotropic medications and treatments.
    4. Observe patients for side effects, adverse reactions, and behavioral changes.
    5. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed.
    6. Maintain patient safety and a therapeutic environment.
    7. Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately.
    8. Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and treatment plans.
    9. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
    10. Participate in discharge planning and aftercare coordination.
    11. Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
    2. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    3. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
    4. Strong clinical assessment and crisis management skills.
    5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    6. Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Prior experience in inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
    3. CPI or de-escalation training.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
    2. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent de-escalation training – preferred.
