  • Job Summary
    The Physician Liaison is responsible for ensuring appropriate authorization and reimbursement resources are in place for elective imaging procedures and services. This role reviews physician orders for completeness, verifies insurance information, obtains prior authorizations, ensures compliance with payer requirements, communicates authorization status to scheduling and patient access teams, resolves authorization-related concerns, and provides excellent customer service while supporting departmental objectives.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Review and verify physician orders for completeness, including ICD-10 and CPT codes.
    • Verify insurance eligibility and determine prior authorization requirements.
    • Submit, obtain, and monitor prior authorizations for scheduled procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with government and commercial payer requirements.
    • Communicate authorization status with Centralized Scheduling and Patient Access teams.
    • Notify appropriate teams of delayed or denied authorizations and assist with rescheduling when necessary.
    • Resolve authorization-related concerns following patient appointments.
    • Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers.
    • Present a professional departmental and organizational image while adhering to policies and procedures.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum of one year of experience working with private/commercial insurance, government plans, third-party payers, and workers' compensation for insurance eligibility and prior authorizations.
    • Demonstrated expertise in insurance authorization and follow-up.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ADT/CPSI applications.
    • Ability to utilize software applications to improve efficiency and automation.
    • Ability to learn new software applications as needed.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with physicians, clinical staff, Patient Access, and Patient Financial Services teams.
    • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to read, comprehend, communicate, and document information accurately.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent customer service skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospital Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
