  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology provides compassionate and specialized nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer and hematologic disorders. The RN supports patients and families throughout all stages of the oncology care continuum, including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and palliative support. This role requires advanced clinical skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to deliver safe and evidence-based care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
    2. Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments in accordance with physician orders and institutional policies.
    3. Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects and intervene appropriately.
    4. Perform patient assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
    5. Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
    6. Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
    7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
    8. Adhere to infection control, safety, and chemotherapy handling protocols.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
    2. Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
    3. Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology, medical-surgical, or critical care settings.
    4. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
    5. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced clinical environment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    2. Prior oncology or infusion center experience.
    3. Familiarity with Epic or other electronic health record (EHR) systems.

    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
    2. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred.
    3. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) – Preferred.
    4. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Administration Certification – Preferred.
