Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to oversee day-to-day financial operations related to the general ledger. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial reporting while contributing to a collaborative team environment. It is ideal for an accounting professional looking to grow their skills in a mid-level capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and allocations
- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Assist in preparing management reports and variance analyses
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Reconcile bank accounts, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and other financial accounts
- Monitor and resolve outstanding items promptly
- Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency within accounting operations
- Assist in developing and implementing new procedures and controls
- Collaborate with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll teams to resolve issues
- Work closely with other departments to support financial data needs and ensure accurate reporting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with general ledger or financial reporting responsibilities
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems)
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills

- Experience in payroll accounting or related financial operations
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives within accounting functions
Certifications (if any)
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (preferred but not required)
