Job Summary:
• Prepare and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals in a substance abuse treatment setting
• Ensure kitchen sanitation and compliance with local health regulations
• Collaborate with staff to support clients’ dietary needs and program schedules
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and/or follow a weekly menu that meets USDA requirements and ensures proper taste and temperature
• Prepare appetizing, healthy, well-balanced meals and snacks according to meal schedules
• Transport food from Transitions to TTC, ensuring food quality during transfer
• Inspect all food for quality and quantity before serving
• Prepare meals for special events and holidays
• Take measures to minimize food waste
• Set up and clean up food production area, maintaining cleanliness per local health board guidelines
• Open and close kitchen, ensuring proper food storage
• Order and maintain kitchen supplies in collaboration with the Program Director
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with food suppliers
• Participate in regular supervision meetings with direct supervisor
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience
• Documented evidence of training in nutrition/menu planning in an institutional setting
• Ability to relate to a substance abuse treatment population in a sensitive and respectful manner
• Willingness to work in a multicultural setting
Preferred Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
Certifications:
• Serve Safe certification (as required by regulatory agencies)
• Allergy Awareness certification (as required)
• Provision of any health documentation required by regulatory agencies
Additional Requirements:
• COVID vaccination series and booster required
• BILH coversheet required at time of submission
