JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse – ICU provides specialized care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves continuous monitoring, advanced clinical interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to stabilize patients with life-threatening conditions. ICU nurses deliver high-quality care using advanced medical equipment and clinical expertise in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and responses to treatment
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and manage life-support equipment
- Perform complex clinical procedures and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans
- Respond to emergencies and initiate life-saving interventions
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery expectations
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during critical care
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in ICU or critical care settings
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with trauma, cardiac, or post-surgical ICU patients
- Familiarity with ventilators, CRRT, and other advanced life-support systems
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred
