  • Job Summary
    The Central Processing Technician is responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established infection control standards, industry practices, and regulatory requirements. This role ensures the proper decontamination, assembly, and preparation of surgical instruments and trays to support patient care and surgical services.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Process specialty and general instruments and reset instrument sets without error
    2. Decontaminate instruments and equipment according to procedure
    3. Maintain stock levels in the Central Sterile Department
    4. Prepare and assemble trays and equipment following established listings
    5. Communicate repair needs to supervisors
    6. Conduct quality checks on products, services, or processes to evaluate performance

    Required Qualifications
    1. High School Diploma or equivalent
    2. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
    3. 2–4 years of related experience preferred
    4. Knowledge of case cart assembly and materials management regulatory standards
    5. Ability to conduct inspections and evaluate quality or performance

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    2. Effective communication skills for working with surgical and clinical staff
    3. Experience in sterile processing within a hospital or surgical center

    Certifications
    1. CRCST certification required
