Job Summary
The Interventional Procedural Technologist will support minimally invasive, image-guided procedures in both radiology and operating room settings. This role involves operating imaging equipment, performing sterile scrub duties, and circulating cases across neuro, cardiac, and vascular surgery specialties. Located in the heart of Beacon Hill, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) hosts one of the largest and most dynamic Interventional Radiology (IR) divisions on the East Coast. Technologists collaborate with nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians, residents, and assistants to deliver cutting-edge, multidisciplinary patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage imaging equipment during diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Perform sterile scrub duties and circulate cases in radiology and OR environments
- Support neuro, cardiac, and vascular surgical procedures
- Assist with a wide range of IR procedures including:
- Angiography
- Embolization
- Venous access and venography
- Myelography
- Abdominal interventions
- Paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Biopsy
- Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS)
- Dialysis access/fistula work
- Y90/SIRT therapy
- Provide support for CT-guided procedures, vascular surgery, cardiac hybrid procedures, endovascular neurosurgery, and endoscopic interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT certification
- Valid Massachusetts State Radiography License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures
- Ability to work in high-acuity, multidisciplinary clinical environments
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in interventional radiology or surgical procedural support
- Familiarity with advanced cardiac and neurovascular procedures
- Experience in a large academic medical center setting
Certifications (if any)
- ARRT certification – required
- State Radiography License – required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
- Advanced specialty certifications (e.g., CVIT, RCIS) – preferred
