  • Job Summary  
    The Operating Room RN provides direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires advanced clinical skills, strong communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment. The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
    2. Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment according to sterile standards.
    3. Assess patient condition and document responses to interventions.
    4. Administer medications and manage IV infusions as directed.
    5. Assist physicians and surgical staff during procedures.
    6. Monitor patient status intraoperatively and intervene promptly when required.
    7. Communicate patient care plans with patients and families pre- and post-operatively.
    8. Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery, and discharge plans.
    9. Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and hospital policies.
    10. Delegate tasks to support staff and supervise their performance.

    Education
    1. Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
    2. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

    Required Skills & Experience
    1. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
    2. Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and surgical procedures.
    3. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate nursing services in high-stress situations.
    4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    5. Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and surgical teams.
    6. Basic computer skills.

    Certifications & Licensure
    • Active RN License (State Board of Nursing or Multistate Compact RN License).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
    • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) preferred.
