  • Job Summary
    The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for supervising and coordinating sterile processing operations to ensure the safe and efficient preparation of surgical instruments. This role oversees compliance with regulatory standards, manages staff performance, and collaborates with leadership and other departments to maintain high-quality patient care through sterile instrumentation.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Supervise sterile processing technicians and coordinate shift assignments to ensure adequate coverage and workflow.
    2. Monitor the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments.
    3. Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), and internal SOPs.
    4. Perform and review quality assurance audits, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
    5. Train and mentor SPD staff, supporting professional development and competencies.
    6. Manage equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting in coordination with maintenance teams.
    7. Collaborate with site leadership on timekeeping, scheduling, and operational goals.
    8. Work closely with other departments to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments.
    9. Promote safety, regulatory compliance, and infection control in all aspects of operations.
    10. Communicate customer service feedback and respond to concerns effectively.
    11. Assist in supply inventory management and reorder processes.
    12. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
    13. Provide direct supervision of all sterile processing staff during assigned shifts.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Required Qualifications
    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing or related healthcare field.
    3. Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control practices, and regulatory standards.
    4. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
    5. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Prior supervisory experience in sterile processing or surgical services.
    2. Familiarity with hospital-based sterile processing operations.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. Certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST, CSPDT, or equivalent) preferred.
    2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
