Job Summary:
The CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) Technician plays a critical role in supporting cardiovascular surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining specialized equipment and instruments. The technician ensures a sterile environment and collaborates closely with surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff to facilitate efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and equipment specific to cardiovascular procedures.
- Assist in setting up the operating room for cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Monitor and maintain surgical equipment during procedures, troubleshooting any issues promptly.
- Assist surgical teams by anticipating their needs and providing instruments and supplies efficiently.
- Adhere to strict infection control and sterilization protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
- Document equipment use, maintenance, and surgical supplies inventory.
- Participate in equipment maintenance, calibration, and safety checks.
- Support post-operative cleanup and ensure readiness of the OR for subsequent cases.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a surgical technician, preferably in cardiovascular or operating room settings.
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and surgical instrument handling.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced surgical environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Cardiovascular Technologist (CCT) preferred.
- Experience in cardiovascular operating room settings.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Surgical Technologist certification (CST) or cardiovascular-specific certifications (if applicable).
