plaintext JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Director, the Staff Therapist is accountable for the administration of Physical Therapy to patients from pediatric to geriatric. The goal of therapy is to improve the patient's functional ability.
Key Responsibilities - Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results. - Determines physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription. - Administers manual exercises, instructs patients in performing physical activities, and assists patients in using assistive and supportive devices. - Administers physical therapy treatments by giving massages, initiating traction, applying physical agents, and utilizing hydrotherapy tanks, whirlpool baths, moist packs, and various lamps and machines. - Directs treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants. - Evaluates the effects of physical therapy treatments and the fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing and noting patient's progress. - Recommends adjustments and modifications to treatment plans. - Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers. - Contributes to patient care conferences. - Designs home exercise programs and instructs patients, families, and caregivers in their execution. - Recommends and/or provides assistive equipment and outpatient or home health follow-up programs. - Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. - Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential. - Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. - Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. - Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs. - Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. - Develops physical therapy staff by providing information and developing/conducting in-service training programs. - Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements. - Advises management on needed actions to maintain compliance.

Required Qualifications - Possession of a Physical Therapy License issued by the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. - Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction.
Certifications - BLS required.
Experience - Experience in physical therapy from pediatric to geriatric patient populations.
