Job Summary
Under general supervision, the RN Behavioral Health provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in a hospital setting to individuals with a wide range of behavioral and medical health conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver safe, effective care in both routine and complex situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to interventions and treatments.
- Monitor patient conditions and promptly report changes to physicians.
- Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures.
- Monitor physiological data and intervene when required.
- Administer medications, manage IV infusions, and blood products.
- Communicate patient care plans with patients and families.
- Educate patients and families on hospital procedures and discharge plans.
- Refer patient care needs to appropriate staff when necessary.
- Delegate tasks to support staff effectively.
Education
- Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and patient care techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate nursing services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Basic computer skills.
Certifications & Licensure
- Active RN License ( State Board of Nursing) OR Multistate Compact RN License (eNLC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required at submission.
