  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse – Step Down provides specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care to a lower acuity setting. This role involves close monitoring, individualized bedside care, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure safe recovery and continuity of treatment for pre- and post-surgical patients.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
    2. Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to patients recovering from surgery or critical illness.
    3. Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications accurately.
    4. Perform clinical procedures including changing dressings, inserting catheters, and initiating IV therapy.
    5. Monitor patient status and promptly report changes to the medical team.
    6. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
    7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support patient recovery and safe discharge planning.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
    2. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
    3. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
    4. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced step-down unit environment.
    5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Prior experience in a step-down or progressive care unit.
    2. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
    3. Training in post-surgical recovery and transitional care.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
    2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
    3. COVID-19 vaccination card required.
