  • JOB SUMMARY  
    The Registered Nurse – SICU provides complex, high-acuity care to patients immediately following surgical procedures. This role requires advanced clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition. SICU nurses work closely with surgeons, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe recovery and optimal outcomes for critically ill surgical patients.

    Key Responsibilities  
    • Monitor and assess post-operative patients in a surgical intensive care setting  
    • Administer medications, IV fluids, and manage life-support equipment  
    • Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments  
    • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans  
    • Respond to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions  
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care  
    • Educate patients and families on post-operative recovery and discharge planning  
    • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols  
    • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality improvement initiatives  
    Required Qualifications  
    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred  
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license  
    • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in critical care or surgical ICU settings  
    • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills  
    • Proficiency in electronic health record systems  
    • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays  
    Preferred Qualifications  
    • Experience with abdominal transplant, vascular surgery, or trauma cases  
    • Familiarity with extracorporeal therapies (e.g., CRRT, MARS)  
    • Prior experience in high-acuity ICU environments  
    Certifications  
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)  
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)  
    • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred
