  • Job Summary
    The Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment and management in an outpatient clinical setting. The RN collaborates with oncologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, compassionate care, coordinate treatment plans, educate patients and families, and monitor patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for oncology patients receiving treatment in the clinic setting.
    2. Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, and supportive treatments as prescribed.
    3. Monitor patients for treatment responses, adverse reactions, and potential complications.
    4. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and symptom management.
    5. Coordinate care with oncologists, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
    6. Perform patient triage and assess clinical concerns through in-person and telephone interactions.
    7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    8. Assist with care planning, survivorship programs, and patient follow-up activities.
    9. Ensure compliance with oncology safety standards, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements.
    10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing oncology education programs.
    Required Qualifications
    1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    2. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    3. Minimum of one (1) year of Oncology, Infusion, Medical-Surgical, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
    4. Knowledge of cancer treatments, chemotherapy administration, and symptom management.
    5. Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
    6. Ability to provide compassionate care to patients and families facing complex health challenges.
    7. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Previous experience in an Oncology Clinic, Infusion Center, or Hematology/Oncology practice.
    3. Experience administering chemotherapy and managing oncology-related side effects.
    4. Knowledge of evidence-based oncology nursing practices and survivorship care.
    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
    2. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) Certification, preferred.
    3. Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certification, preferred.
