  • Job Summary
    Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with health conditions ranging from simple to complex. The RN collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective patient care within the Neurosciences unit, which includes stroke, neuro, orthopedic, and spine patients.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
    2. Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
    3. Monitor physiological data and intervene when necessary.
    4. Assist physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
    5. Administer medications as prescribed.
    6. Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
    7. Deliver patient care competently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
    8. Communicate care plans effectively with patients and families.
    9. Provide discharge planning and patient/family education.
    10. Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
    11. Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff.
    12. Participate in precepting and virtual room support as required.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
    2. Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
    3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
    4. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
    5. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Stroke care experience.
    3. NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
    2. NIHSS certification preferred.
