Job Summary
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Cath Lab to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role is responsible for preparing patients, assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization and related procedures, monitoring patient status, administering medications, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures, including pre-procedure assessments and patient education.
• Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology, and other cardiovascular procedures.
• Monitor patients' hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, and vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
• Administer medications, intravenous therapies, moderate sedation, and other treatments in accordance with physician orders and organizational policies.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
• Provide post-procedure monitoring, recovery care, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Operate and troubleshoot cardiac monitoring and specialized Cath Lab equipment as appropriate.
• Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, radiation safety, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support departmental goals.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.
Required Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience providing nursing care in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), or Interventional Cardiology setting.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, cardiovascular disease processes, hemodynamic monitoring, and interventional cardiac procedures.
• Experience administering moderate sedation and monitoring procedural patients, where applicable.
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring systems and Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.
• Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and emergency response skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology environment.
• Experience assisting with structural heart, peripheral vascular, or electrophysiology procedures.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular imaging equipment and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
• Experience with quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based nursing practices.
Certifications
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
