Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our surgical team. The RNFA will provide direct assistance to surgeons during operative procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes. This role involves preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative responsibilities, including patient assessment, surgical site preparation, and hands-on support in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons directly during operative procedures, including tissue handling, suturing, and wound closure.
- Provide preoperative patient assessments and contribute to surgical planning.
- Prepare surgical sites and ensure sterile technique is maintained.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate needs and ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes promptly.
- Support postoperative care, including patient education and follow-up assessments.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Uphold infection control and patient safety protocols at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant program.
- Minimum of 2 years of perioperative nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and patient safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior experience as an RNFA in diverse surgical specialties.
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.
- RNFA certification from an accredited program – required.
