  • Job Summary
    The Senior Patient Account Specialist is responsible for supporting the Revenue Cycle division by ensuring timely and accurate resolution of patient accounts. This role focuses on account reconciliation, claims management, and billing processes across inpatient and outpatient services. The Senior Specialist serves as a subject matter expert within the patient financial services team, providing guidance, mentoring, and advanced problem-solving to ensure compliance with organizational standards and payer requirements.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Perform advanced patient account functions including billing, collections, and claims resolution.
    2. Ensure compliance with inpatient and outpatient billing requirements (UB-04 and HCFA 1500 forms).
    3. Reconcile outstanding balances and resolve complex account issues.
    4. Collaborate with insurance companies, providers, and internal departments to expedite claim resolution.
    5. Document account activities accurately and maintain audit-ready records.
    6. Provide mentorship and training to junior staff within the patient financial services team.
    7. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance revenue cycle performance.
    8. Uphold ethical and professional standards while supporting organizational mission and values.

    Required Qualifications
    1. High school diploma or equivalent (must be submitted with application).
    2. 3–5 years of experience working within a multi-facility hospital business office environment.
    3. Previous insurance company claims experience and/or hospital billing experience.
    4. Strong knowledge of inpatient and outpatient billing requirements (UB-04 and HCFA 1500 forms).

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Experience with revenue cycle processes in a healthcare system office environment.
    2. Familiarity with electronic billing systems and claims management software.
    3. Prior experience mentoring or training staff.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. No specific certifications required; professional billing or revenue cycle certifications are a plus.
