Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our surgical team. The RNFA will provide direct assistance to surgeons during operative procedures, ensure patient safety, and contribute to high-quality perioperative care. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, including tissue handling, suturing, and wound closure
- Provide preoperative and postoperative patient care in collaboration with the surgical team
- Monitor patient status and vital signs during procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields and instruments
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Document patient care activities accurately in medical records
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care plans
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in surgical practices and patient safety
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Completion of an accredited RNFA program
- Minimum of 2 years of perioperative nursing experience
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety standards
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree
- Prior experience assisting in complex surgical specialties (e.g., cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurosurgery)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
