  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health provides compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health and behavioral disorders. This role involves assessing patient conditions, implementing individualized care plans, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote mental wellness and safety.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Conduct thorough mental health assessments and monitor patients’ behavioral status.
    2. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs.
    3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.
    4. Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing acute behavioral health episodes.
    5. Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
    6. Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
    7. Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
    8. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
    9. Participate in patient discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care as needed.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
    2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable.
    3. Experience in behavioral health nursing or psychiatric care preferred.
    4. Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, treatment modalities, and behavioral interventions.
    5. Excellent communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills.
    6. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    7. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) or related specialty.
    2. Experience working in inpatient psychiatric units, crisis centers, or outpatient behavioral health clinics.
    3. Training in de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care.

    Certifications
    1. Registered Nurse (RN) License (required).
    2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
    3. Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (preferred).
