Job Summary
The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the peri-procedural process, collaborates with physicians and technologists, and delivers high-quality care in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients before, during, and after cardiac catheterization procedures
- Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiology studies
- Monitor patient vital signs, hemodynamic status, and responses to sedation or anesthesia
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed
- Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, and post-procedure care
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR)
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols within the Cath Lab environment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN/BSN)
- Experience: Prior experience in critical care, telemetry, or cardiac nursing preferred
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment abilities, ability to work in high-stress environments, and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or interventional cardiology setting
- Familiarity with advanced cardiac monitoring equipment and EHR systems
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or similar specialty certification
Certifications (if any)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in applicable state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
