Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to support surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile environments, and assisting during surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly prepared, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare operating rooms with the necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical team members during operative procedures.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgeon while anticipating procedural needs.
• Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and supplies according to established protocols.
• Prepare, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Handle surgical specimens in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor the integrity of the sterile field and promptly address any contamination concerns.
• Assist with patient positioning and preparation before surgical procedures.
• Clean and restock operating rooms following surgical procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures and supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient surgical operations.
Required Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Experience working as a Surgical Technician in an operating room environment.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, sterile techniques, and aseptic practices.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties.
• Experience in an acute care hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and sterilization processes.
Certifications
