Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (Correctional Medicine) provides comprehensive healthcare services to individuals in correctional facilities. This role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care while adhering to facility protocols and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, and treatment interventions.
- Monitor patient health status and respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility.
- Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and other healthcare staff to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment compliance.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Adhere to infection control practices and facility safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in acute care, emergency, or correctional healthcare settings.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure environment and manage challenging patient behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in correctional medicine or forensic nursing.
- Training in crisis intervention or behavioral health.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
