Job Summary
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests to aid in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, working in a fast-paced environment that supports patient care through accurate laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; troubleshoot and report issues as needed.
- Follow written protocols for sample handling, analysis, and documentation.
- Review and validate test results for accuracy before reporting.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Adhere to safety and quality assurance protocols at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other healthcare professionals regarding test results, unusual findings, or issues.
- Collaborate as part of a team to support daily lab operations and workflow.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or Laboratory Sciences.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in a clinical setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a hospital or acute care laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and automated analyzers.
Certifications
- Required: Medical Technologist (ASCP)
